Applications Architect

We are looking for an innovation technology driven Applications Architect to join our Digital Solutions Department within our Winnipeg Head Office located at 140 Otter Street.

As Applications Architect, you will provide solution architectural expertise to develop and maintain a digital technology product roadmap to manage the introduction of new features and capabilities, conduct strategic research and development, and assist in the translation of business strategy and requirements into specific solutions.

What You’ll Do
  • Design major aspects of the architecture of an application, including business intelligence, data analytics, user interface, middleware, and content management.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Digital Solutions to conduct research and development for new opportunities, features, emerging technologies, and products that will increase cost effectiveness and system flexibility.
  • Document and analyze existing digital application architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives.
  • Identify, assess, and solve complex business problems in the digital space, where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders as required to ensure application architecture is aligned with business requirements.
  • Facilitate client’s product visions by researching, conceiving, wireframing, sketching, prototyping, and mocking up user experiences for digital products.
  • Assist in continuous improvement, business development and standardization initiatives.
  • Assist in research and help teams to continuously improve on latest security features, language or framework updates.

What You’ll Bring
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing diverse technology projects.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in application/software design and development.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with web technologies and frameworks such as Spring boot, Laravel or .Net core.
  • 2+ years’ experience in designing, developing of REST Web Services or event driven systems. 
  • 2+ years’ experience working with microservice or microservice orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of development on mobile platforms and best practices.
  • Proven experience with object-oriented analysis, design, and programming, unified modeling language, model driven architecture, design patterns, service-oriented architecture, and business plan modeling.
  • Experience using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of Apple App Store and Google Play Store guidelines.
  • Experience in modern web technologies or frameworks such as react angular or vuejs.
  • Experience with PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java or Kotlin.
  • Progressive technical knowledge and knowledge of best practices in Information Technology service delivery such as SDLC, PMBOK, and Agile Development.
