Reporting to the Principal Enterprise Architect, the Platform Solution Architect Lead is responsible for setting up the Platform Solution Architecture practice and its roles, responsibilities, engagement model, and processes while leading the team it's comprised of. The platforms in scope for this team are Microsoft, Power Platform, ServiceNow, and Esri. Additionally, the Platform Solution Architect Lead will liaise with business and technical teams that are using and/or supporting other enterprise platforms such as SAP to ensure the development and management of a holistic platform strategy, aligned to business and technology goals.
Key to success in this role is developing platform strategies and solutions that support and balance business and IT needs and understanding Manitoba Hydro's business capabilities and technology landscape. This position is suited to someone who brings excellent communication and interpersonal skills, is well organized and technology-savvy, and has experience with team leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of specialized Platform Solution Owners, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities, ensuring a high level of team performance and accountability.
- Lead and develop the Platform Solution Architecture practice, including defining roles, responsibilities, processes, communication, and engagement model across the corporation.
- Lead the development, maintenance, and communication of a holistic platform strategy, including standards, principles, guidelines, and reference architectures.
- Guide and approve the strategic direction and roadmap for each platform (Esri, ServiceNow, Microsoft, and Power Platform) in alignment with the strategic technology plan, platform strategy, enterprise goals, and objectives.
- Act as a liaison with other key application and platform teams to coordinate strategic planning, implementation, and assessment of capabilities and fit.
- Support the development, maturation, and delivery of the Solution Design and Architecture practice including principles, standards, guidelines, processes, and artifacts.
- Manage the Citizen Development Framework and ensure solutions created by the business are appropriately developed.
- Oversee the implementation of new features, modules, components and technologies within the identified platform ecosystems.
- Oversee the evaluation of platform assessments for demands, ensuring technology recommendations optimize value and minimize risks and disruption.
- Maintain significant relationships with platform vendors to understand technology and vendor roadmaps and inform architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with business leaders, stakeholders, and D&T teams to understand business goals and objectives and identify technology solutions that meet those goals.
- Participate in technology governance forums as a cross-functional representative of the identified platforms.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships and knowledge necessary to assess the longer-term strategic needs of the business.
- Lead, oversee, and implement increasingly complex projects involving multiple systems with corporate-wide impacts.
Qualifications:
- A four-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of six years of directly applicable experience
OR - A two-year diploma in Computer Programming Technology or related discipline from an institute of recognized standing with a minimum of eight years of directly applicable experience.
- Experience leading technology or platform focused teams, including strategy development in a complex, matrixed organization, preferably in the Power and Utilities sector.
- Ability to lead a team effectively, including task delegation, mentorship, and line-of-sight alignment between assigned work and business unit objectives.
- Ability to influence and motivate others and initiate action.
- Hands-on experience as an Enterprise Architect or Solution Architect with a proven track record in architecting solutions utilizing enterprise platforms.
- Ability to understand, empathize, and bridge multiple perspectives, including the ability to communicate business vision to technology teams and technology to business teams.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
- Experience in leading, developing, and managing technology roadmaps that align and incorporate vendor vision with business needs.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $51.23-$70.19 Hourly, $98,171.06-$134,498.00 Annually.
