On behalf of our client, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Database Administrators in Winnipeg. Reporting to the Manager, Technology Infrastructure Services, the Senior Database Administrator, leads all functions related to technical planning, design, configuration, integration, operation and support of database systems. As the Tier III Support, the Senior Database Administrator’s, objective is to assist the Senior Program Analyst in identifying the root cause of problems and consequently prevent incidents to the Service Desk

 

As the Senior Database Administrator, you will:

  • Design, and lead the implementation and integration of database systems. Apply Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, and methodology to ensure effective solution design.
  • Participate as the senior technical resource on project teams.
  • Design, draft and maintain system and infrastructure documentation, including build, configuration and recovery.
  • Design database system components and deliver projects on budget, on time, and in scope
  • Manage database systems, including capacity, firmware/software releases, system configuration and maintenance.
  • Monitor, gather, maintain and analyze capacity and availability for all database systems.
  • Develop strategies for enhancements to ensure the organizational computing environment maintains optimum availability and capacity.
  • Investigate database system requirements, research new products and solutions, and provide product and pricing recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and document Tier III incidents. Provide internal IT support. Escalate to external service providers as required.
  • Provide guidance and support to Computer Operations and Database Administrator on maintaining database systems and integration.
  • Support and comply with Corporate Social Responsibility, policies, procedures, and practices.

 

   You and Your Experience:

  • You have 9+ years’ experience as a Database Administrator.
  • You have experience and strong working knowledge of Oracle databases.
  • You have experience and strong working knowledge of MS SQL Server.
  • You have experience in an IT support and service delivery role supporting enterprise class systems and applications.
  • Experience with Linux based operating systems would be considered an asset.
  • You have the ability to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems in support of operations and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • You have proven experience in superior customer service delivery and support.
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries is a Crown Corporation of the Province of Manitoba. They distribute and sell liquor, provide gaming and entertainment experiences, and source and distribute non-medical cannabis to retailers in the province, all in a socially responsible manner.

They operate Club Regent Casino, McPhillips Station Casino, Gaming Centre, Video Lottery Network and PlayNow.com and distribute and sell Western Canada Lottery Corporation products through privately-owned lottery ticket retailers. As a retailer, MBLL operates 63 Liquor Mart and Liquor Mart Express stores throughout the province, serving more than 1,700 commercial customers across Manitoba including privately-owned liquor vendors, duty-free stores, and specialty wine stores.

And lastly, MBLL sources and distributes non-medical cannabis to privately-owned retailers in Manitoba
