Business & digital transformation planning and financial opportunities
Planning and designing your innovation project through a better understanding of the impact of digital transformation, business need, funding available and changes in the market place.
1. Digital transformation (Speaker- Jennifer Kardynal- Senior Manager Strategy and Operations)
Disruption is inescapable. Every aspect of business—from the way we work, to where we work, to the work we do—is fundamentally different than it was as little as five years ago. It’s a virtuous circle in which technology innovation spawns changes in market and competitive dynamics, and vice versa. To stay on the right side of disruption, businesses need to anticipate the signals and adapt and reinvent themselves before disruption upends them. BDO presentation will focus on how to approach Digital Transformation by forming a digital strategy and how digital transformation is not just about technology.
2. Business plan and proper valuation of your organization to support your business expansion plan. (Speaker- Daniel Bernard – Partner Financial Advisory Services)
A key, but sometimes overlooked, component of business planning is the financial analysis. Understanding all of the financial costs and how the timing and quantum of these costs impacts the feasibility and return on investment of a project by building a sufficiently robust financial model that assists management in evaluating potential outcomes and ROI can be an invaluable tool in the decision-making process. This portion of the presentation will look at some tips for developing better financial models and how the value of these projects impacts the value of start-ups, scale-ups, and mature organizations.

3. Funding available to support your business transformation plan. (Speaker- Sylvain Defoy- Senior Manager Government Incentive Programs)
Do you have a funding strategy in your organization? The presentation will focus on Funding Success Tips, how to approach funding taking into consideration future growth plans, alignment with your strategy, timeframe, and your capacity to invest. Discussion of mistake done to access funding. A brief overview of the different Government Incentive Programs available in Manitoba will be presented including recent changes on the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program, the challenges associated with claiming software development work versus the eligibility criteria of the SR&ED program and how to get prepared during an audit with CRA.
