Nearly one in six Manitobans has a disability, which creates barriers where they work, live and play. It is easy to take simple things like accessing a document or form for granted, but these barriers to accessibility are a real and constant challenge for people with disabilities. Accessible documents and forms required under the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA), so learning how to create them is a crucial skill.
Tech Manitoba and New Media Manitoba are partnering to bring you this important and timely workshop. Participants will learn the process of creating documents that meet accessible requirements using both Adobe InDesign and Acrobat. By the end of the workshop, they will not only have an understanding of the required technical procedures but also learn how best to evaluate accessibility in the documents and forms you create.
Requirements: Participants should have basic computer literacy and understand file system navigation. Experience with InDesign and Acrobat is not required but would be beneficial.
It is easy to take our time on the web for granted, but imagine how someone with a visual impairment might view your documents or website. Guidelines, requirements and best practices are continually evolving to create more inclusive experiences.
The Province of Manitoba is committed to becoming a more inclusive society. The Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA) outlines a clear and proactive process to identify, remove and prevent obstacles in critical areas of daily living.
