DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Procurement Modernization New Category Management Approach \n\nSpecial update webinar by Province of Manitoba and Pricewaterhouse Coopers\n\n\n\nThe Government of Manitoba recently announced the implementation of a Procurement Modernization program to transform Manitoba into a "smart shopper". PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada (PwC) is assisting the provincial government in developing and implementing the Procurement Modernization program from 2018 2021. \n\n\n\nAs part of the Procurement Modernization program Manitoba will be implementing a Category Management to introduce leading procurement practices. Category Management is a strategic procurement approach to organize procurement resources around specific areas of spending. This will ensure government can:\n\n improve planning to leverage buying power for a category of goods or services to meet the needs of several departments at one time\n improve how contracts are managed to ensure all needs are met and that government and suppliers meet the terms of all contracts\n\n\n\n standardize processes and procedures for government procurement\n improve procurement services and make them more efficient\n improve transparency around the procurement of services that use taxpayer dollars\n reduce costs to procure goods and services while maintaining service quality\n enhance relationships with vendors / suppliers to realize benefits\n\nOne of the categories for which the Category Management approach is being implemented includes IT Hardware (i.e. Workstations\, Printers\, Print Services\, and End User Computing). The timeline for implementing Category Management is May 2018 February 2020. The introduction of this approach is likely to affect the suppliers.
