SUMMARY:Tech Mash-Up: Predicting Risk
DESCRIPTION:**Registration is now full for this event \n\n\n\nEnhancing Risk Prediction with Geospatial Data Science and Machine Learning\n\n\n\nPredicting risk accurately is key to a wide variety of industries\; insurance\, finance\, investing\, real estate\, fraud detection etc. The more accurate the predictions\, the greater the competitiveness and profitability for service providers. Today the majority of risk assessment methods are broadly applied across demographic and geographical segments. The greater the number of factors involved\, the greater the opportunity to be more statistically accurate but also the need for larger and larger volumes of data to be processed simultaneously and on an ongoing basis. Applying geospatial data science and associated machine learning to this challenge can result in significant improvements in the accuracy of risk predictions. This presentation will focus on how these advanced techniques are improving risk assessment across a variety of application areas.\n\n\n\nLunch and networking at 11:45 am\n\nThe presentation starts 12 noon\n\n *The lunch provided will have vegan and vegetarian options\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrant Barkman is a seasoned business and technology leader with a foundation in ideation\, group consensus\, visualization and facilitation. Grant is the founder and lead consultant for DecisionWorks\, a Manitoba-based\, management consulting organization that specializes in helping companies make better and more informed decisions using group consensus\, predictive analytics\, AI\, machine learning and collaborative decision- making. Grant is currently focused on delivering business transformation services to mid-market companies in Western Canada using AI as the enabler\, and has partnered with both the U of W and U of M in that pursuit.\n\n\n\nOver the course of his experience\, Grant has lived and worked in Europe\, Asia-Pacific and of course\, across North America and now calls Winnipeg his permanent home. He holds both Canadian and British passports and enjoys the opportunity of sharing his experiences of global commerce with anyone particularly interested to grow their business internationally.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented by:\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThank you to our Gold Sponsors:
